A Spray Dryer is a continuous drying equipment that transforms liquid materials into dry powder by spraying the feed into a hot drying medium. It is widely used for drying heat-sensitive materials and is ideal for achieving fast drying with uniform particle size and high product quality. The process ensures minimal loss of nutritional value and is highly efficient in industrial-scale production.

Spray dryer working principles:

1.Atomization: The liquid or slurry feed is introduced into the spray dryer chamber through a nozzle or atomizer. The feed is typically pumped at high pressure to create fine droplets. The choice of atomization method can vary depending on the specific application and material properties.

2.Drying Chamber: Hot air or gas is introduced into the drying chamber. This hot air serves as the drying medium and rapidly evaporates the moisture from the droplets.

3.Drying Process: As the atomized droplets are suspended in the hot air, moisture from the droplets quickly evaporates, leaving behind dry particles. The hot air and droplets are in contact for only a brief moment, allowing for rapid drying and preventing the particles from clumping together.

4.Separation: The dried powder is separated from the hot air and collected in a cyclone separator or other collection device. Any remaining moisture or fine particles may be further treated or filtered before the final product is collected.
